An Embarrasing Eyesore

"In a country like India where government doesn't have enough capital to set up the required infrastructure even for the 50% of people has taken a bold decision to make Rs 3600 cores statue for pride of our country!!
Our pride is slowly turning into ego because somewhere there are ppl who feel inferior as an Indian just because we don't have a strong economy. So now those ppl are getting low and mad to prove the world that we aren't less by spending crores of money for luxur!
Do you know why did Roman Empire collapse?? There urge to prove the world tht we're the best made them greedy for luxur, they misunderstood, wrongly ciphered the value of money for needs....

There economy collapsed because they couldn't do anything much for the living conditions of poor and spent extravagantly in infrastructure...
And here's India which isn't even ready with the basic infrastructure for public!! Basic needs aren't fulfilled in our country but priority is given to increasing pride of our country by spending loads of money in a statue for a dead king who means a lot to ppl in India.
Is this how pride of India increases? By ignoring the pathetic conditions of government hospitals, police station, offices, schools, compensation of farmers still pending in Maharashtra, roads, subway etc; and spending on a statue for being proud to be an Indian.
I am sure, Shivaji Maharaj won't be proud of us though, that's the truth!! He'll be ashamed of his future generations because we're not working for the people, we're not improving the conditions of our country at all by making this statue. Best reward we can give to these great leaders of our history is by making India great again by improving the basic infrastructure for basic and daily needs instead of a sophisticated infrastructure only used for tourism?
Maharashtra should look at it's farmers conditions, look at the condition of roads, highway, school... At least think about your own employees. Police inspectors who spend days looking at complaints don't even have a proper chair to sit!!
Not only Maharashtra, India but the world really has to change the way we use the money!! We really don't know how to utilize so much of money in ryt place!! We need a real change in the way our economy works, the world's economy works!!"

Slums- Story of Dharavi. Slum involves the illegal use of government held land. Dharavi's outgrown land belongs to the Airport. In 2017 when I was in Mumbai getting bored in the airport and complaining about Starbucks coffee, I was not aware that how lucky I was to even get a chance to complain about Starbucks whereas there are children who might have not even entered a place of that sort. So when the flight was just about to take off, I noticed the slums immediately connected to the outer boundary wall of the airport. And I thought, Alas, what a shame that tourists get to see this dirt; Bangalore is lot cleaner. But the moment the flight started catching the height I felt pity for those living there. One reason is that they have to always put up to the noise which comes from the airport plus their living conditions. And I was ashamed of myself and felt even more sorry for them. They say Mumbai is a city of dreams, surely it is! Who can dream that the same city which is the business hub of India, home to all Bollywood stars and celebrities, Colonial Architecture, Taj Hotel and so many Royal buildings with millionaires and billionaires living in also might be the home for the most unhygienic living system too. Irony is many slum dwellers have refused government issue housing, reason- they fear that the government may not relocate their business centers appropriately.  Workers chose to disregard safety, reason - Uneducated class do not care about the swamp, garbage etc. they only want productivity in order to get more profit. Now what do we understand? They don't want government to interfere much as they are afraid that they might lose that land and it will go to the Airport, which itself faces the crisis due to traffic. State government has taken a loan of 1200 crores from various sources for improving the situation of Dharavi, but another irony is that the state government of Maharashtra has enough capital for investing on the Chatrapathi Sivaji statue. Department of Tourism says that it will boost tourism and get us more profit. Well my answer to those is,                                                                        (The three pictures above depicts the story of Tai Hang, Hong Kong which was a slum redeveloped by the government of China. Tai Hang was established by the British Administration to create a workforce which could serve them with less labor cost, same as Dharavi which was established by the British Empire after the dissolution of East India company). There are different ways of getting tourism, by investing into the nature, cleaning of beaches, building of parks, renovating the broken utilities etc. There is zero functionality of the statue. Dubai invested in skyscrapers and infrastructure which has two advantages, one is the functional use of these multistoried buildings and another is that it automatically attracts the tourists because of the architecture. 3600 crores could be used for many valid reasons. Is this the only duty of Indian government? When I was in Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh, I noticed many statues being placed at a span of 2 km, the amount spent for this could again be utilized for reconstruction of the road which is really important for the public and the road were pathetic, there was no footpath and congested living all together.  Either the government is run by the kids, or we have really got consumed up with too much of pride. Mumbai is a big failure because it has failed to provide the basic education to the children of the slums, proper health care, hygiene, infrastructure, healthy living, understanding every communities well and resolving crime and corruption. It has become a city very much like the Gotham, where rich people live in their high shelters afraid that the poor might touch them. The most expensive home in the world- The Antilla belonging to Ambanis and other side is the world's 3rd largest slum, Mumbai amazes me because it is a city of imbalance and hypocrisy. Unlike Gotham, fictional city which had the most crime and economical differences, Mumbai does not have a law breaker dressed in all black called Batman, A silent guardian, The Dark Knight.
